Starting out

I'd better provide some kind of context for this blog, which I've created to record some of the happenings in relation to my involvement in the GDFR project. I've been nominated as the National Library of Australia's representative on the Technical Working Group.

The creation of a Global Digital Format Registry (GDFR) will enable recording the complete representation information about digital formats, in order to provide keys to understanding the nature of digital objects, guide the managing of their transition from one state to another, and inform the choice of preservation method for material in specific formats (adapted from GDFR Project homepage).
